MILWAUKEE — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) will hold a roundtable in Milwaukee on Thursday, Sept. 1 to discuss the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ decision to implement the Promoting Responsible Opioid Prescribing (PROP) Act. Johnson, along with Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), introduced the PROP Act in April 2016. It prohibits pain management questions on patient surveys from being factored into Medicare reimbursement calculations.
In conjunction with the roundtable, Sen. Johnson will release a report on his work on the opioid epidemic in Wisconsin and across the country, as well as on his work in addressing our unsecure borders and their relationship to America’s insatiable demand for drugs. Immediately following the roundtable, Sen. Johnson and Sen. Gardner will hold a media availability.
