Flu on Call™ Helpline Available

Flu on Call™, a toll-free helpline providing information and medical advice related to flu, is now available in Milwaukee County. Those in Milwaukee County who are experiencing flu symptoms, caring for someone who is ill, or who have questions related to flu vaccine or flu-related concerns are encouraged to dial the Flu on Call™ hotline at 1-855-435-8722.

The hotline is staffed Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during January & February 2016. Callers to the hotline will receive support from CDC trained information specialists and medical experts.

Flu on Call™ is a CDC-led initiative to establish a national network of telephone triage lines to be used during a severe influenza pandemic. To ensure that this system is ready to use during a future emergency, Flu on Call™ is being tested as part of the seasonal flu response in Milwaukee County.

The goals of Flu on Call™ include:

  • Provide callers with accurate information about influenza (flu); and
  • Ensure that people who may be ill with flu-like symptoms (especially those who are at higher risk for complications from influenza) are seen at the most appropriate site of care.
