FUNDS RAISED FROM ANNUAL AWARDS DINNER HIGHLIGHTS AWARENESS, HOPE FOR WOMEN STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTION
MILWAUKEE, WI (March 14, 2017) - The Medical Society of Milwaukee Foundation announced today a $10,345.00 donation to Meta House, a Milwaukee-based organization that helps women reclaim their lives from drug and alcohol addiction and rebuild their families. The funds were raised during the Medical Society’s Annual Awards Dinner on March 4, 2017, a special event that recognizes exceptional community leaders for their leadership on critical health issues, such as addiction and homelessness. A record crowd honored four awardees, and participated in a silent auction and fundraising for Meta House.

It is a tremendous honor to be able to live our mission to impact lives and strengthen communities through philanthropic partnerships.”
The Medical Society of Milwaukee Foundation and Medical Society of Milwaukee will present an oversized check in the amount of $10,345.00 to Meta House on Wednesday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Medical Society of Milwaukee office at Summit Place, 6737 W. Washington St., Suite 1120, West Allis, WI 53214. The photo presentation will take place in the atrium. The media are invited to attend. Several MSMC board members and representatives from Meta House, including a woman recovering from heroin addiction will be available for interviews.
“Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Medical Society of Milwaukee Foundation and their event attendees, Meta House will be able to provide 12 weeks of individual counseling sessions for 20 women with the funds raised,” said Carryn Sami, Director of Development at Meta House. “These services are critical to the recovery of women and are provided by Master’s-level clinicians. Individual counseling sessions offer women the compassionate, client-centered care they need to overcome their addiction and address any trauma that may accompany it.”
