Public Health Committee

The Committee reviews and analyzes our current community health problems including occupational and environmental concerns, infectious diseases, and the myriad of family problems such as teenage pregnancy, violence, child abuse, addictions, and lack of preventive care that undermine the ability of individuals to function as productive citizens. The Committee works with public health officials from all communities in Milwaukee county to address concerns and solve problems.

Constitution and Bylaws Committee

The Committee considers requests from any member of the Medical Society of Milwaukee County (MSMC) for additions to and repeal or amendment of the Constitution and Bylaws. The Committee proposes revisions of the Bylaws to reflect the interest and concerns of MSMC members in such a way as to encourage their maximal participation in the activities and functions of the organization.

Emergency Medical Services

The Committee is advisory to area hospitals and physicians concerned with emergency patient care. It acts as the medical advisory committee to the county government's Emergency Medical Service Council and the Emergency Operating Center which has the responsibility for community disaster planning. The Committee also responds to specific complaints involving emergency patient care.

Ethics Committee

The Committee takes a proactive role in studying ethical issues of concern to the membership and makes policy recommendations to the Board. In addition, the Committee reviews all charges of unethical conduct preferred against a MSMC member and has original jurisdiction over charges regarding the removal of office of a MSMC officer and reports its findings to the Board of Directors.

Media Task Force

This task force will be charged with developing a more formalized relationship with the media, through regular meetings with the media, disperse more press releases and identify physician contacts.

Membership Committee

The Committee works to recruit and retain MSMC members. The Committee also reviews applications for MSMC membership, investigates the eligibility of these applicants and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for acceptance/rejection of potential members.

Website Task Force

This task force will be charged with developing a plan to expand the present website to include useful consumer oriented information and increase information for members.
