MISSION

The Medical Society of Milwaukee County is an organization of physicians that provides leadership and advocacy in response to the needs of its members and the community by collaboration with others to improve the overall health status of the community.

VISION

MSMC will champion quality health care for all and be a recognized, collaborative resource on health issues. The Medical Society of Milwaukee County will be the dynamic and unifying force representing the full spectrum of the physician community.

Areas of Focus

Advocacy

Goal : Influence issues important to physicians and patients and the delivery of health care in Milwaukee County

  1. Continue work with the partnership on specialty care access and primary care access for the uninsured
  2. Develop relationships with payers and purchasers to assist in the development, reporting and education of measures of quality and efficiency with strong visible physician participation

 

Goal : Serve as a neutral convener to focus physician and health system attention on issues of patient safety, community health, supportive interventions and measures of improvement

Community and Professional Project Involvement

Goal: Develop and support community and professional involvement in:

    1. The health literacy collaborative around the LifeCourse initiative
    2. Volunteer recruitment of physicians for the Free and Community Clinics
    3. Dispensary of Hope
    4. SAUP – Specialty Access for the Uninsured Pilot
    5. WHIE – Community Care Plan

Membership Value, Communications and Participation

Goal: Promote the membership value equation

    1. Promote the value of membership to physicians and their employers
    2. Establish networking events and opportunities to engage members
    3. Establish MSMC as the go to source for easy to use information and resources
    4. Attract and retain super groups
    5. Continue to enhance the website

Leadership Development

Goal: Develop current and future leaders

    1. Create a leadership development committee in place of the nominating committee
    2. Create a future leader data base and succession plan

Student and Resident

Goal: Develop programs and value for students and residents

    1. Create and support projects and activities that engage students and residents
